GLSVLSI 2007 will be held March 11 - 13, 2007 in Stresa on the shores of Lago Maggiore (Lake Maggiore) one of the most famous and picturesque lakes in Italy. The city, known for its elegance and beauty, is graced with many magnificent Neoclassical villas, grand Art Nouveau hotels, beautiful parks, as well as a romantic lakeside promenade and the famous Borromee islands.

The symposium takes place in the "Hotel La Palma", which is located just a few meters from the lake. The hotel is surrounded by a large flowered garden and is located in a quiet and central position on Stresa lakeside.

Travel

Stresa is located in an excellent position as it can be reached very easily. Indeed, Stresa is situated on the Sempione route, served by international roads and railways. The airports of Milan (Malpensa Km 45 and Linate Km 90) guarantee fast and comfortable arrival by plane.

  • By air:

    You can arrive at: Milano Malpensa Airport (45 km); To reach Stresa from Malpensa airport, please go to Gallarate Railway station by bus (about every one hour, depending on arrival time) or by taxi and then take the train from Gallarate to Stresa (about every one hour - please visit the train web site for the time table). In the evening, the best way is to take a taxi to Gallarate and then a train to Stresa .

    You can arrive at: Milano Linate Airport (95 km); from Linate you can reach Milano and take a train to Stresa.

    If you include a Saturday night into your stay in Italy, you will usually be able to obtain much lower airfares than otherwise.

    You can also arrive at: Torino Caselle Airport (140 km) and then take a train from Torino Porta Nuova Railway station to Stresa. Please refert to www.trenitalia.com to check the timetables.

  • By train:

    Stresa is on the main railway Milano-Simplon-Geneva-Paris. The train traveling from/to Milano Centrale takes about one hour. There are trains about every hour.
    From the train Station of Stresa to the Hotels: walking distance of 5/10 minutes.

  • By car:

    Motorway Milano-Laghi (A8) - exit Carpugnino-Stresa,

Social Events

On Sunday evening a welcome-drink will be held at Hotel La Palma ****(our conference hotel). It will be the occasion to start the pre-registrations.

On Monday a Gala Dinner is planned at Hotel La Palma. On Tuesday a trip to the Borromee Islands is planned. We will have a transfer by boat from Hotel La Palma to the Isola dei Pescatori (Fischerman's island) during which we will experience a suggestive tour among the other Borromee Islands. At Isola dei Pescatori a dinner is planned at Restaurant Verbano.

In addition, for your travel planning you might want to consider the following:
  • Stresa offers a unique variety of excursions: it is possible to visit Isola Madre, Isola dei Pescatori and Isola Bella, the ancient Villas such as Villa Pallavicino and Villa Taranto. Moreover the Alpinia Botanic Garden, Lake d'Orta and the ski resort of Macugnaga.
  • On the more technical side, the CLEAN Workshop on leakage takes place after GLSVLSI 2007 in the same conference centre in Stresa on March 14.
